Duck Duck Python

It seems reptiles of all sorts, and snakes in particular, are wreaking havoc on Florida's ecosystem. So from March 8 to April 17, residents have been given the right to go out there and catch their own anaconda and whatnot. Trying to catch them alive has been discouraged citing the danger of handling such fauna.

Prominent "reptiles of concern" during this hunting season are the Indian python, the Burmese python, the African Rock python, the Green Anaconda and the Nile Monitor lizard. All you need is a hunter's license and $26 to participate. You are also encouraged to attend one of the Python 101 classes provided by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission that will teach you how to identify these creatures and kill them without breaking a sweat.

And after that majestic photo-shoot with your kill, you have a couple of options. You could sell the hide (snake hide sells for $5 a foot) or, you could always just eat the snake. Eating the Burmese python, though, isn't such a good idea considering the high-dosage of mercury that comes as a side-dish.

Happy Hunting!
